BREVETTI +

Project Title: Enhancement and development of the CLAUS device – Sexual Confusion for Lobesia Botrana

Acronym: CLAUS+
Project number: BRE0001778

The CLAUS+ project, led by Uptoearth Italia and funded by Invitalia through the Brevetti+ initiative, aims to enhance the patented device “Motorized Device with Sensors for Agricultural Systems with Covered Ground”. Brevetti+ is a program promoted by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, managed by Invitalia, to support the economic exploitation of patents.

The project’s core objective is to strengthen the current prototype of the CLAUS device by integrating a new feature: an active dispensing system for synthetic pheromones to control Lobesia Botrana through sexual confusion techniques. Over an 18-month period, the device will progress from TRL3 to TRL6 through feasibility studies, market research, technical development, and field testing in collaboration with research institutes (Nova Labs Srl), universities (University of Bari) and agronomists (Food Agri Service Srl).

Expected Results:

  • Feasibility study: assessment of active dispenser technologies, sustainability and environmental impact analysis, implementation recommendations.
  • Pheromone selection and validation: identification of compatible liquid material, regulatory-compliant and environmentally sustainable.
  • Market research: demand validation, customer segmentation, target identification.
  • Prototype development: new TRL6 prototype featuring an active mobile dispenser.
  • Field testing: validation of CLAUS system effectiveness in vineyards, comparison with existing market solutions, data-based performance evaluation.
